The Hisame Majik, Part 1 (
Summary[]
Team Desscaras is inside a magic powered wagon en route to the village where the Hisame Majik is. Kumugi attempts to introduce herself as a witch cadet with the Mantinel Witches Association and a member of the Witches Research Club but stops short when she notices that neither Ichi nor Desscaras are paying attention to her. She feels a hand on her shoulder and turns around to see Uroro leering at her asking if she wants to be friends and she shrieks in terror.
Desscaras asks how long it will take them to get there and Kumugi answers that it will take around half an hour. as Desscaras begins to complain about not being able to use mirage mirrors or fly to their location, Kumugi panics and assumes that the witch is talking about her when she was referring to Ichi instead. Thinking to herself, Kumugi laments at the situation she has found herself in, having to face anti-human majiks which are the most dangerous. She is most terrified however, of Ichi, the male witch who was fearless enough to pick a fight with Uroro right in front of all the other witches.
Ichi asks her what is in the bag she is holding and she tells him that it is an item with a spatial spell on it which allows her to carry anything inside. She conjures up some water with the help of her pen and offers it to Ichi who is surprised. He turns around and calls her amazing, catching the cadet by surprise and she remembers how all her family considered her weak and useless. She snaps back to reality and says it's all she can do just to manage the little things.
Interjecting at this point, Ichi recalls a story he was told by a blacksmith once, about how even the most exquisite of blades would fail to cut jelly if it was not taken care of properly but if taken care of properly and given a proper edge, even the poorest sword could slice through boulders. He explains that the worth of a tool was in how it was used and he complimented her because she gave him what he needed when he needed it and that he thought she was an amazing person.
Kumugi stares wide eyed at Ichi who then continues to say that Desscaras was not an amazing person because she always ordered fancy meals and didn't share them. Kumugi becomes flushed and begins to think that Ichi might not be as scary as she first thought after all. Desscaras wistfully watches the pair from a distance and Uroro pops up, asking if she feels left out and tells her not to bother since there was nothing more awkward than a boss trying to join in on the new kids' gossip session.
Unable to contain herself, Desscaras leaps forward and yells at Kumugi to let her join and gossip with her. Ichi is taken aback at this but something from outside the wagon suddenly catches his attention. He is unable to find what it is and begins to wonder if he had just imagined it until suddenly a young child runs forward, her face covered in tears, being chased by a trio of sharks. The child thinks back to shortly earlier when her parents were frozen by the sharks and their parting words were for her to run for her life and that the witches would come to save her.
Leaping forward, Ichi attacks the sharks with Inazuri, saving the child instantly. As the girl rolls forward right into Desscaras and Kumugi she asks if the "lady" witch came to save her. Ichi responds by saying that he was not a lady but instead he was Ichi the Witch, he notes that he thought he killed the shark but it just melted instead and asks Kumugi to explain what happened to him as she changes her mind and thinks to herself that Ichi was most certainly scary. Far away, a giant shark's eyes glow menacingly as it senses what Ichi had done.
