The Hisame Majik, Part 2 ( () (さめ) の魔法② Hisame no Mahō②) is the eighth chapter of the Japanese manga series Ichi the Witch, written by Osamu Nishi and illustrated by Shiro Usazaki.

Summary[]

Ichi repeats what Kumugi explained to him about the Hisame Majik powers. He then asks the little girl, Chrissy, where her village is and heads off towards it with the girl eagerly clinging on to his back. As they arrive at Jauz Village in Thazanwood they see that the entire village has been frozen and are unable to find any villagers. They ask Chrissy where her parents are and she responds that they are gone, they are all surprised that her parents were able to move even while frozen and wonder what happened.

Kumugi reads the report and notices that in every affected village the victims were eventually found near a body of water and so they decide to check the nearby lake. Upon their arrival they are appalled to see a giant structure of ice which is the shark's castle. Desscaras walks up to Chrissy and shuts her eyes close, putting her under a sleep spell. Kumugi is shocked and catches the child and is stunned as she notices spikes on the ice castle, which all contain the victims of the shark bites.

Taking in the sight, Ichi remarks that it is clear that the shark has a desire to kill humans and a habit of toying with it's prey. Ready to hunt the majik, Ichi yells out to get its attention, much to Kumugi's shock. He says that a weak creature would be too cautious to show itself after that but one confident in it's power would come out to face the challenge.

Suddenly, a giant shark emerges from the castle and introduces itself as the Hisame Majik. It then proceeds to chide them for taking so long to get to it, asking why it took so long to cross a tiny mountain. The Hisame Majik says that she had finished doing her makeup hours ago and that they should try being on time more. Kumugi asks if that is really the Hisame Majik and she snaps back at her, saying that she was Miss Hisame for them.

Hisame then proceeds to say she could overlook an insult or two especially since Desscaras herself came to get her, saying that for a majik being challenged by a powerful witch was a mark of pride. Getting giddy in the moment Hisame was glad to have the chance to gain some prestige through this, saying Desscaras caught her off guard with the crude hello but that it was a fresh take. As she calls out to Desscaras to come forward and face her she finally notices Ichi and asks what the boy was doing there.

Desscaras tells her that Ichi was the one who challenged her as the boy steps forward, dips his hand into the water and uses Inazuri to zap her. Kumugi is taken aback and Ichi explains that this was a trick he learned from watching catfish paralyzing their prey. Shocked at how quickly Ichi seemed to be adapting to his magic even though he only recently received it, Kumugi wonders who he really was.

Before Ichi is able to turn around and reel Hisame in, they hear the shark complain about chipping a nail. Remarking that he must be the boy witch who captured Uroro, Hisame tells them that all the majiks have been talking about Ichi before bringing him down to earth and telling him that he was awful at majik hunting. She explains to Ichi that the only way to beat a majik was to pass their trial and then presents her own trial to them, saying that she would test their fashion sense and have them design a dress for her.
