Majiks (魔法 Mahō) are living forces of magic with distinct personalities and powers. They interact with humanity through Trials, granting their abilities to witches who complete them.[1]
Overview[]
Majiks are forces of living magic, each representing a different force, element, or concept. As living beings, Majiks each have their own personality, and are generally split into two categories; those who are friendly with humanity, with relatively easy Trials, and the Human-Hater Majiks (反人類魔法 Han Jinrui Mahō, lit. "Against Humanity Majik"), who are hostile to humans.[1]
Upon acquiring a Majik, the user gains a Magic Stone, which acts as proof that they have acquired the Majik.[2] The only exception to this is Uroro, who instead simply transformed into a small blob form.
As of Ichi's acquiring of Uroro, 3,185 Majiks were identified, 402 of which have been acquired by witches.[3] Since then, Inazuri has been acquired, bringing the number of acquired Majiks to 403;[2] it is unclear if Inazuri had been identified at the time of Desscaras covering these numbers.
Trials[]
Trials (試練 Shiren, lit. "Ordeal") are a condition, or set of conditions, that must be achieved to acquire a Majik. These Trials can vary wildly in difficulty; some Trials are fairly easy, while others are difficult or even impossible under the wrong conditions.
These are the currently known Trials:
- Water Majik: Drink all the water it summons
- Bonfire Majik: Hold it for one hour.
- Iceberg Majik: Sleep beside it for one night.
- Breeze Majik: Walk alongside it for 1,000 miles.
- Uroro: Stop its heart. However, its heart is protected by a barrier that cannot be damaged by women.
- Inazuri: Steal its heart jewel, without being struck by any of its lightning.
- Uruwashi: Make her fabulous.
- Macilvaine: Cut and harvest its stem.
- Ariadne: Destroy its cage and cut off its horn.
- Bakugami: Absorb the 10 years worth of sorrow he had collected, bear it and survive. They have the right to decide who takes the trial.
History[]
The first Majiks made contact with humanity long ago, with first known contact occurring between the Water Majik and an unknown woman. Initial meetings with Majiks were relatively calm, with the Majiks explaining their Trials and allowing the women they met to acquire them.[1]
To deal with the Human-Hater Majiks, humans formed groups of Majik Hunters, later known as witches.
