The Mentor-Pupil Blood Contract (師弟 (してい) 血判 (けっぱん) (じょう) Shitei Keppan-jō) or Slave Contract is a vow created between mentor and pupil (master and slave) in which the pupil is obligated to do the mentor's orders but the mentor dies when its pupil dies.

Overview[]

Mentor-Pupil Written Contract

physical contract

The Mentor-Pupil Blood Contract is a magical contract physically written on paper that requires a pupil’s and mentor's signature and an additional drop of blood from the mentor.

Once both parties sign, a bond is created through a mist-like effect that momentarily connects their hearts before disappearing. This connection leaves a magical "heart tattoo" on the skin, positioned over the heart.

Through this contract, two key conditions are established:

  1. The pupil must obey their mentor.
  2. If the pupil dies, the mentor also dies.

Desscaras' Heart Tattoo

Desscaras's "heart tattoo", representing her as a mentor.

In the case of Desscaras and Ichi, it was Desscaras who first proposed the contract as a way to form a family bond with Ichi. In her words, "Among witches, the bond between teacher and student is thicker than blood. The pupil becomes their master's blood, while the master shares their blood with the pupil."

After Ichi signed the contract, solidifying their bond, Desscaras told him:

"There. Now the two of us are as good as family."

Only after signing did Desscaras reveal that Ichi now had to obey her orders—forcing him to do some of her paperwork. However, she never disclosed the fact that she was now bound to die with him. Despite knowing about Ichi’s prophecy, she still chose to form the contract because she didn’t want Ichi to bear his burden alone while she merely watched.

Trivia[]

  • The contract is considered an old relic of the witchcraft unused nowadays, even described as more of a curse because of the slave connection and death bonding affiliations.
  • It is unknown if it's possible to break the contract other than with the death of one of the signers.
